Washington library updates hours, restrictions
May. 3, 2021 12:45 pm
The Washington Public Library has revised hours and restrictions that went into effect on May 1.
Library doors will be unlocked 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday-Thursday; 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday; and 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday.
The children’s book area of the library has been shifted to the Junior Fiction Section because of the possibility of glass in the carpet due to the recent breaking of an internal window.
New carpet will be installed in the summer months throughout the library.
The Baby Garden is closed until the new carpet is installed in that area.
Contactless curbside book service will continue to be offered by calling the library, texting the Gabbie library app through the library catalog or emailing.
Meeting room reservations are available by appointment by calling 319-653-2097.
Study rooms and computers are available to those with valid Washington Public Library cards on a first come, first served basis.
To get a library card, bring a valid driver’s license with a current address or provide a photo ID and a utility bill or rental agreement with a current address.
Genealogy will remain closed. Anyone with a request for a genealogical record should call the library, and they will provide a connection with a genealogy librarian.
Remote printing is available by the app “Printer On.” Download the “Printer On” app or see the library’s website kiosk for this service at washington.lib.ia.us.
Masks are mandatory through the month of May in the library.
Digital resources are available via the library’s website washington.lib.ia.us.
Free Wi-Fi will continue to be available outside of the library 24 hours a day.
