WASHINGTON — Police are investigating a series of car burglary incidents in residential areas on the northwest side of town.
Police Chief Jim Lester said there were around a dozen such incidents since July 27.
“They’re going through the glove box, the center consoles, looking for things they can grab quickly,” he said. “Cash, debit and credit cards, things like that.”
Though some cars were damaged in the burglaries, Lester said most were simply left unlocked.
“It’s another important reminder for people to keep their vehicles locked,” he said. “If they have a camera system that monitors the driveway or outside area of their houses, I encourage them to register that with our community camera program.”
Lester said the department estimated one or two individuals were responsible for all the incidents, but investigations are still ongoing.
