Washington man dies after motorcycle hits deer

A Washington man died Friday as a result of injuries he sustained in a July 18 motorcycle accident.

Mark Kendall, 58, died of his injuries at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

According to the Washington County dispatch log, a caller reported a motorcycle accident in the 2000 block of Vine Avenue in Ainsworth just after 1 a.m. on July 18.

According to a preliminary accident report from the Sheriff’s Office, Kendall was traveling northbound on Vine Avenue when he struck a deer in the roadway “causing the motorcycle to lay down and slide approximately 60 feet.”

A Washington County ambulance transported Kendall to the hospital in Iowa City.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Washington County Ambulance, Ainsworth Fire Department and Ainsworth QRS all responded to the call.
