WASHINGTON — Washington Police Chief Jim Lester announced at a city council meeting last week that Seth Adam was the department’s 2022 officer of the year.
“He’s our officer of the year because of his professionalism, because … he’s outgoing,” Lester said. “When we need somebody to step up and work and fill a shift, or do whatever needs to be done, Seth is the one that we can count on to do that.”
The award recognizes “outstanding service to the citizens of Washington,” according to an inscription on the plaque.
In 2022, Adam completed a 16-hour training course on impaired driving enforcement, and served as the department’s shotgun armorer, taser instructor, and member of its SWAT team, according to a yearly report. Adam has served on the Washington Police Department since 2010.
“He works beyond regular shift hours to ensure his work is thorough, timely and accurate,” Lester wrote in his report. “Officer Adam is often complimented for his calm demeanor in stressful situations and compassion shown to victims. His work ethic throughout the year, reflects his dedication to the Washington community and the profession of policing.”
