The Washington Performing Arts Series Presents “An Evening of Improvisational Theater” at the Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center on Saturday, April 13.
The show will begin at 7 p.m. in the events center, located at 1111 South Avenue B in Washington. Organizers said the show would involve big names from around the community, calling the show “Washington’s ‘Saturday Night Live!’”
“The audience will see quick-witted comedy bursting to life on stage via seasoned comedic actors,” said a news release from the Washington Performing Arts Series Committee. “Audience members should prepare to be amazed at the talent in Washington County and are advised to bring tissues for tears of laughter.”
This year’s Evening of Improv lineup includes Tom Dawson, Tim Elliott, Ryan Flannery, Eric Hanson, Brett Pierson, Jerry Woods and more. Some members are new faces in this lineup.
As in previous years, students from Washington and Mid-Prairie will provide the evening’s opening act. That list includes Haydon Bailey, Isabella Lujan, Jacob Carrillo, Jack Greiner, Logan McClellen, Kyann Miller, Jimmy Rempel, and Caroline Schrader. They’ll perform a variety of events, all of which were nominated for outstanding performance by the Iowa High School Speech Association.
“These short, witty student scenes will not only showcase amazing talent but will also contribute to the hilarious comedic spirit of the evening,” the news release said.
Adult tickets for the show are $20, or $10 for college students. Admittance is free for K-12 students. Tickets will be available at the door an hour before the show starts, or online at WashingtonAuditorium.org.
