WASHINGTON - Brian VanWilligen was promoted to the rank of sergeant last month, after an already 19-year career with the city’s police force, five of which he’s spent as an investigator.
Police Chief Jim Lester made the announcement at a city council meeting last week.
“He’s done a great job the last five years as investigator, and we’re looking forward to having him as part of our command staff,” Lester said.
In a social media post, Lester said VanWilligen’s work had, “resulted in the successful prosecution of several felony level cases,” adding that the officer’s law enforcement experience - including time before his service in Washington - added up to a total of 30 years.
