Washington pool to open June 26
Jun. 18, 2020 1:00 am
WASHINGTON - The Washington Steele Family Aquatic Center will officially open to the public on June 26.
At Tuesday's city council meeting, Mayor Jaron Rosien said the staff will align with the governor's recommendations and the day will be split into two shifts. The first shift will be from 1-3:30 p.m. and the second from 4-7 p.m. The 30 minutes in between will be used to clean the facility.
The pool will be limited only to those who live within city limits and Washington Parks Director Nick Pacha added the pool will open to those who live outside the limits as restrictions allow.
Pacha said lap swim and swimming lessons are currently underway and have been continuing successfully. The pool is owned by the City of Washington but managed by the YMCA of Washington County.
Patrons will be asked not to gather at the entrance of the building and follow social distancing guidelines. Each person will only be allowed to attend one shift per day and if they leave the facility before the shift is up, they will not be admitted back in according to a statement released by the Washington YMCA.
If the capacity of 100 patrons is not reached with the first half-hour of admissions, daily passes to residents of Washington and the surrounding area will be sold, the statement says.
