Aug. 6, 2020 1:00 am
WASHINGTON - Three members of the Washington Police Department received promotions at the council meeting Tuesday night.
Lt. Shamus Altenhofen, Sgt. Jason Chalupa and Sgt. Benjamin Altenhofen were promoted from patrol officers to their current positions.
Chief Jim Lester said the department had five applicants for the three positions, which shows their dedication and commitment to the department.
'We are very excited to have them working with us, and they have a lot more work to do now that they're getting the shiny badges,” he said.
Lester continued by saying in January 2019, the council passed a resolution to make leadership development a priority in the department. The eagerness to move up the ranks and continue the work of the department proves their dedication, he said.
'These guys are the future leaders,” he said.
