WASHINGTON - The Washington Community Schools has put out a frequently asked questions document containing answers to 94 questions surrounding the upcoming school year.
The questions and answers cover issues with the return-to-learn plan from online learning to extra-curricular activities.
'Would families be alerted if a student or staff member in our child's classroom tests positive and has a close contact?,” 'What are you going to do to enforce face coverings?,” 'What is the plan for teachers/staff/children who are high risk?,” are just a few examples of the questions answered in the document.
According to the document, if a student or staff member tests positive, the district will follow protocols put forth by the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Washington County Public Health to alert those who have had a close contact.
Face coverings will be enforced from the perspective of 'community responsibility and caring for one another,” according to the document, and students will be sent home and offered the opportunity to enroll in virtual learning if they test positive for COVID-19.
Some of the questions are specific to certain children, such as those who are transitioning to new buildings, others are broader such as what physical education will look like. Other questions describe what a small group will look like or how library books will be quarantined.
Those interested can find the document on the Washington community schools website, washington.k12.ia.us.
