Washington requiring inspection notices

WASHINGTON — The city of Washington will now require property owners to give at least 24-hours notice to the city to perform required inspections.
“When (Building and Zoning official Jeff Duwa) is trying very hard to work on the huge pile of things that we discuss all of the time, and he has to drop everything because a contractor expects him to just be there in 5 minutes, it has become a problem,” Mayor Jaron Rosien said. “This solidifies a policy where common courtesy of a day’s notice for building inspection would be in place.”
The resolution passed unanimously by the city council last week said the 24-hour requirement had no exceptions except in situations “deemed by city staff” as emergencies.
