The Washington school board held its transitional session Wednesday night, swearing in three board members after an election in November.
District 5 Director Heidi Vittetoe and at-large Director Jason Hamilton were thanked with an applause as they left the meeting room. Neither of the two ran for another term.
““I have been on the school board since 2005, it seemed time to step aside and let someone else be involved in that,” Vittetoe said in an interview in August. “It’s been very interesting, and I have benefited a lot from the learning I’ve gotten from being on the board. I would encourage anybody to run for the board because it’s a good opportunity to participate in local governance and the future of our kids.”
With the adjournment of the old board, reelected Board Member Jim Almelien and newly elected members Mike Liska and Mindi Rees took their oaths of office, settling in for their four-year terms.
