Last week, the Washington Police Department conducted compliance checks as part of the I-PLEDGE Tobacco, Alternative Nicotine and Vapor Product Enforcement Program with the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division.
Under the direction and supervision of law enforcement, underage customers attempted to buy tobacco products from 13 Washington retailers. For the fourth consecutive year, all the retailers refused to sell products to the underage customers.
The following retailers were in compliance: BP One Trip, Casey’s #1624, Casey’s #3528, Corner Stop, Dollar General Store #21535, Fareway, Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh Express, Mann Brothers, LLC/DBA Liquor+, Walmart #1475, Washington Liquor & Tobacco Outlet, Washington Spirits & Tobacco, and Wine & Spirits.
The Washington Police Department commends the businesses and their employees for not selling to the underage customers and for their commitment and diligence when it comes to underage tobacco and vape sales.
