The end is in sight.
Reconstruction work on Washington Street is nearly completed. Warner Engineering, the engineering firm for the three-year project, said plans are to have the painting of the stripes and symbols on the final stretch of the project completed by Oct. 19, which means streetwork will be completed shortly thereafter.
Intersection work should be completed and all streets opened by the afternoon of Oct. 5.
Traffic will be switched to the center two lanes on Tuesday, Oct. 2, so that the seeder can begin grass seeding on Oct. 3 or Oct. 4.
Wesley Barton Construction will be working on sidewalk ramps to street crossings at Locust, Harrison, Van Buren and Marion streets in order for the grass seeding work to be completed.
Once the grass seeding is completed, Barton will be completing sidewalks and colored slopes from Adams to White streets.
Kinney and Sons Excavating will be finishing the backfill of the sidewalks and general cleanup from Oct. 1-4.
