At its Tuesday meeting, the Washington County Board of Supervisors discussed the possibility of remodeling its board room.
The supervisors looked at a preliminary drawing that showed the supervisors in a semi-circular table with a rectangular table in front of them. The drawing included work and files areas in the room.
Supervisor Jack Seward Jr. said the subject has been discussed for more than a year but now may be the time to take action. He said the tiles under the carpet in the room contain asbestos.
If the project is to move forward, the weekly board meetings may need to be moved to another location or perhaps held on another day during the construction, Seward said. One possibility would be to hold the meetings on Mondays in the court room. No action was taken.
Other Business
In other business, the supervisors:
' Approved a personnel change in the County Attorney's office to terminate the employment of office manager Sandra Jara.
' Heard from County Auditor Dan Widmer that his office sent out over 4,300 absentee ballots on Oct. 5.
' Heard a recycling update from Lynn Whaley of We Make It Go Away (WEMIGA) and heard a COVID-19 update.
