Washington County Treasurer Jeff Garrett presented an apportioning report showing where the tax money collected by the county goes when the Washington County Supervisors met in regular session October 13. In the months from July through September, county tax receipts amounted to $20,679,956.24. Of that amount, $8,884,670.05 or 43 percent went to schools in the county. Another $6,421,125.86 or 31 percent went to fund county government. A total of $3,576,439.93 or 17.3 percent went to cities in the county. Community colleges received $780,808.57 or 3.8 percent. The hospital received $627,447.96 or 3 percent. The rest went to townships (1.2 percent), ag extension (0.6 percent) and Crawford fire (0.1 percent).
Ambulance Service Report
Ambulance Service Director Jeremy Peck gave a quarterly report. He said the numbers of ambulance calls were 258 in July, 224 in August and 194 in September. The numbers of transfers were 180 in July, 60 in august and 132 in September. He said the call costs per hour decreased to reflect the decrease in call volume. The costs were $100.94 in July and $90.91 in September. He was unable to address questions about revenue due to problems with a new software system and related denials of claims from Medicare. He said the software company is helping him deal with the issues which should be resolved by the time of the next quarterly report.
