Washington to hold quiet zone informational meeting
Feb. 8, 2023 10:47 am, Updated: Feb. 8, 2023 11:22 am
WASHINGTON — The city of Washington will hold an informational public meeting on railroad quiet zones and crossing closures Monday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Washington Performing Arts Center.
The meeting will include city officials, and a representative from SRF Consulting who will present on the city’s options for railroad quiet zones and crossings, before opening the floor for a questions and answers session.
“Receiving feedback from the public concerning a railroad quiet zone or closing particular crossings before a final decision is made is very important to the city,” City Administrator Deanna McCusker said. “The city expects to see a lot more train traffic if the CP-KCS railroad merger is approved, and we want to make sure we’re ready for it.”
