Washington under winter storm warning
Jan. 14, 2022 4:51 pm
Washington remains in a WINTER STORM WARNING until 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15.
Heavy snow is forecast with an additional 4-7 inches possible, making travel difficult.
The City of Washington encourages residents to be proactive and consider finding options for off-street parking to aid in the successful clearing of snow.
City crews plan to start their routes around 4 a.m. Saturday.
SNOW REMOVAL signs will be placed around Central Park on Saturday, with downtown snow removal beginning after 10 p.m. When these signs are placed, parking is prohibited between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. any where within one block of the public square. Said area is bounded by the south line of Second Street, the west line of Second Avenue, the north line of Jefferson Street, and the east line of Avenue B.
In addition, vehicles left on the street for more than 24 hours after the plows have had to go around them will first receive a 24-hour tow warning, followed by a parking violation and/or towing of the vehicle.
These measures are taken to enhance the safety of residents and visitors walking and driving in Washington and your cooperation is appreciated.
