It’s going to be a busy weekend in Washington with a craft fair, Cy-Hawk watch party, concert and fly-in breakfast.
The festivities begin at 9 a.m. with the 32nd annual Fall Craft Fair in Central Park.
Alisha Davis, event coordinator for the Washington Chamber of Commerce, said Wednesday that 108 vendors, including nine food vendors, have signed up to take part in the craft fair.
The craft fair will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The festivities then move to the Washington Municipal Airport for a big Cy-Hawk watch party.
The airport gates open at 3 p.m. for the watch party.
People will be able to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes take on the Iowa State Cyclones on a big screen on the airport runway.
Food trucks from Salty Hog BBQ, The Lunchbox and Cheryl’s Ice Cream will be on site, as well as a Budweiser beverage tent sponsored by Greiner Buildings.
Following the football game, the airport will come alive with the music of Pop ROCKS.
Pop ROCKS brings the best of today’s hottest top 40 hits, throwback hip-hop, pop country, party rock and timeless classics all mashed up and delivered in a “party zone” format.
The Pop ROCKS show is a combination — the music of a DJ, the theatrics of a Broadway musical and the live energy of an arena rock extravaganza.
Pop ROCKS was a last-minute replacement for the Pork Tornadoes, who had to cancel their performance due to a death in the family, according to Davis.
Advance tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Washington Chamber of Commerce, Elliott Realty Group and Federation Bank. Tickets at the gate will be $20.
On Sunday morning, the airport will host a fly-in breakfast from 7-11 a.m.
“We encourage families to come out to the airport and see the planes,” Airport Commission member Sam Meyer said. “It’s a fun family breakfast.”
Pilots can fly into the airport and stay for breakfast, and pilots in command eat for free.
The cost of the breakfast is $7 for adults, $3 for children age 5-10 and free for children under 5.
