WASHINGTON — Chamber of Commerce leadership has declared that it will not host a candidate forum before the upcoming November city and school elections, after a candidate list released by the county showed no contested races for the Washington’s school board or city council.
Chamber Executive Director Michelle Redlinger made the announcement in an email to candidates and reporters last week.
“After consulting with our team it has been decided that this will not be necessary this year,” Redlinger wrote. “We do, however, feel it is still important to share information about your candidacy with the community and will be working in partnership with our local media to share the information and stories they will release for Washington and the upcoming election.”
Washington city council candidates on the ballot this November will be incumbents Millie Youngquist and Illa Earnest, as well as Patrick Morgan, who is running for the first ward seat. Washington school board candidates will be Kara Williams, Diana Rich, Brendan DeLong, and incumbent School Board President Troy Suchan.
