Fairfield?s Sustainability Coordinator Scott Timm and LISCO?s President Lance Yedersberger water the Chautauqua Park orchard planted by volunteers on Earth Day, April 22, as part of Fairfield?s Hometown Rewards Program. Extremely dry weather conditions have required frequent watering of the newly established orchard. Yedersberger lent the use of LISCO?s truck and watering storage equipment to assist in the effort. Voluteers are still needed to continue the effort as long as needed. The city of Fairfield was selected to participate in a two-year partnership with Interstate Power and Light Company, an Alliant Energy company, through its Hometown Rewards grant program and the orchard was the first project undertaken by community voluteers as part of this program.
