A wave of vandalism befell the city of Kalona late Thursday night and early Friday morning. According to Washington County Communications Supervisor Cara Sorrells, four cars parked outside Engineered Plastics Components (EPC) had their brake lines cut, which rendered the brakes useless. She said there was another report of a vehicle that had air let out of its tires. Sheriff Jerry Dunbar was also aware of that report, but commented that the tires were not damaged.
Sorrells said a port-o-potty was knocked over in the city, and that a skid loader parked in the alley between Fourth and Sixth streets and B and C avenues had a window broken out of it. Dunbar added that there were a few other acts of mischief such as moving orange safety cones in the downtown area and putting them on top of cars.
