WAYLAND ? Bomber Field may get new lights and a Davenport firm was awarded the contract for asbestos removal of a building on Main Street. Those two matters highlighted a short Wayland City Council meeting Wednesday evening.
Council members discussed replacing the lights and light poles at Bomber Field. The field, located behind the fire station, is used for youth baseball and softball. Following the discussion, the council directed City Clerk Bev Conrad to gain information regarding poles, lights, services available and costs and report back to the council.
Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation of Davenport was awarded the contract for $5,893 to remove asbestos at 211 and 213 West Main St. The city received a state grant to help defray expenses of removing the asbestos. Once the asbestos is removed, the city-owned building will be demolished.
The council also approved National Warranty Line?s Fall Campaign marketing letter for residential optional water service line coverage.
Final action saw the passage of the third reading and adoption of an ordinance amending the zoning ordinance in the Wayland industrial parks. The amendment will relax zoning laws in hopes of attracting more commercial business and industry to the sites.
Wayland council members meet again Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall.
