WAYLAND ? It was a quick end-of-the-year meeting for the Wayland City Council Wednesday night.
The council approved the Energy Efficiency Plan for 2016. City Clerk Beverly Conrad said there would be no changes in this year?s plan. She also stated 2015 was one of the ?best years we?ve had? when it came to rebates.
The rebate plan is only available for owner-occupied dwellings. Rebates are available for replacing existing appliances with energy efficient items such as forced-air natural gas furnaces or a natural gas boiler, natural gas water heater, clock-programmable thermostat and new or replacement insulation.
The council also approved setting a public hearing date on Jan. 6, 2016, to see parts of lot 14 and 15 in the North Plains Subdivision. Conrad stated the purchasers have intentions to build this spring.
Lastly, a bid proposal from L.L. Pelling for street work for summer 2016 was approved. Prices for services will remain the same as last year. Sealcoat surfacing will run $2.05 per square yard, pea gravel will cost $3.15 per square yard and cold patching is priced at $195 per ton.
In other business, the council approved building permits for Jarod Graber to re-side his garage at 207 W. Cummings; Rick Nebel to reroof his home at 204 E. Main St.; and James Dickerson to reroof and reside his home at 206 W. Front St.
For their last meeting, Councilman Kevin Fort made a motion to adjourn the meeting and was seconded by his fellow outgoing member, Scott Shumaker.
The next meeting of the Wayland City Council will be Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.
