Wayland city workers receive annual raises

WAYLAND ? A slew of city employees will be seeing a little extra on their paychecks as the Wayland City Council authorized the wages and benefits for the fiscal year July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2016.

WAYLAND ? A slew of city employees will be seeing a little extra on their paychecks as the Wayland City Council authorized the wages and benefits for the fiscal year July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2016.
Hourly rate employees receiving a 75-cent raise include, Marsha Chalupa, deputy city clerk, $18.05; Barry Leichty, gas superintendent, $24.83; and Randy Morrow, water superintendent, $21.75.
City Clerk Beverly Conrad received a dollar raise, putting her hourly wage at $25.38. Public Works employee, Isaiah Stauffer received his new hire probation increase of one dollar, making his hourly rate $16.
The council also approved Mike Vance?s agreement for attorney services effective July 1. Vance?s hourly rate of $150 will stay the same, but his minimum meeting fee will increase from $250 to $275.
During the meeting, the council also approved the natural gas hook-up request from Mike and Maria Roth, on Franklin Avenue in the Jefferson Township.
The council will discuss sharing the costs for the hook-up at a later meeting.
The council also approved the estimate for the electric service entrance for the pumping station at Industrial Park East for $1,187.77.
Lastly, building permits had been approved for:
? John Campbell, 8?x8?x8? frame portable storage shed at 307 South Meyer Lane
? Barbara Starr, 16?x16? wood frame deck at 412 West Front Street
? Tyler Unternahrer, re-roof a house and garage at 202 West 2nd Street
The next meeting of the Wayland City Council will be July 15, at 7:30 p.m., at City Hall.
