Wayland High School Class of 1951

Wayland High School Class of 1951 met June 17, at the Pizza Ranch in Washington for their 60th year class reunion. Pictured are, from left, front, Gary Meyer, Mary Ellen Wagler Stoltzfus, Lavonne Wenger McGuire, Verlee Kauffman Wiley, Mary Ellen Nebel Saforek, Verena Wyse Jacobs; back, Wes Widmer, Erma Davison Alliman, David Reschly, Gene Story, Mahlon Leichty and Albert Rich. Grace Ruby Askum and Leroy Bain were unable to attend, but they sent notes. The class of 1951 was one of the smallest classes, with 19 graduating.

The group enjoyed a wonderful meal accompanied by a time of reminiscing and fellowship. The tables were decorated with five white roses, in memory of the five deceased classmates: Norma Widmer Leichty, Lois Roth Swan, Roger McGuire, Donald G. Roth, and Richard Widmer. After a short program, discussion was held concerning the next reunion. It was unanimously agreed to meet every year the third Friday in June. Committee members for this reunion were Mary Ellen Saforek and Erma Alliman.
