Bross presented a service certificate to Stanley Meyer for his 55 years dedication to the Wayland Lions Club and the communities it serves. Dr. Robert Pusey received a service certificate for 10 years.
Bross presented his district governor pin to the members, which represented his goals of 'Digging Deeper!”

' Spread out to find new Members to serve the community. He noted this is often accomplished by having a potential member serve on a community project and finding the satisfaction of giving back to one's community.
' Bryan noted that the Lion insignia faced backwards and forwards. This signifies becoming more conscious of the past and its accomplishments and looking to the future to improve and add to new innovative service projects.
Bross informed the members that the International Lions Clubs Foundation Goals is Unity in Diversity. Last year, Lions Clubs International served 2.75 million people. International plans to raise $300 million by July 2023 to serve more than 200 million people throughout the world.
Past District Gov. Nancy Slack carried forth the discussion of Bross of the International Lions Clubs Foundation citing several examples of what benefits $100 could bring as follows:
' Pay for two cataract operations
' 100 measles vaccinations
' Care for eight children with cancer
' Clean water for 14 people
' Disaster relief for four individuals
Slack also discussed the Iowa Lions Foundation and cited several areas that the foundation provides assistance:
' Iowa KidSight Program where 615,000 kids have been tested, resulting in 38,000 medical referrals.
' Eye bank in Coralville
' Providing equipment to carry out various sight analysis
' Hearing aid bank
' Refurbishing used eyeglasses
' Cochlear Implants
' Research and Testing
Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes from the Oct. 20 meeting; then Treasurer Terry Kaufman presented the treasurer's report and both reports were approved.
In an open discussion with Bross and Slack, several Wayland Lions discussed projects the Wayland Lions Club has worked on over the past year or for many years:
' Lion Stan Meyer discussed the annual Rose Sale that was a huge success, with the sale of 144 dozen roses. In addition, several individuals contributed additional funds to assist the Wayland Lions Club in important community projects.
