A Wayland man has been arrested on drug charges following a tip from the public.
Victor Villa-Perez, of Wayland, was arrested Jan. 20, following a drug bust at 1165 Dakota Ave., Lot 16, in Wayland.
Villa-Perez was charged with delivery of less than 100 grams of cocaine, a Class C felony and delivery of less than 50 kilograms of marijuana, a Class D felony. Villa-Perez was also charged with driving with no license or insurance. He was taken to the Henry County Jail pending arraignment.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department said in a press release that the arrest was the result of a lengthy investigation into cocaine and marijuana sales and delivery in the Mt. Pleasant area. Assisting with the investigation and arrest was the Henry County Sheriff?s Office.
The investigation, according to the release, was partially a result of concerned citizens assisting by calling in suspicious activity. Mt. Pleasant Police continues to urge citizens to call in any suspicious activity to their local law enforcement agencies.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
