WAYLAND - Following a two-week closure, Your Choice Family Restaurant in Wayland will reopen next Tuesday.
The restaurant has been closed since Aug. 22 after owner Sira Curfman tested positive for the coronavirus. Curfman said she began feeling ill the following Monday, Aug. 24, with a sore throat.
'On Tuesday, when I woke up, I felt like I was dying. my chest hurt, I could barely breath, and my whole body ached,” she said.
Curfman was advised by her doctors to go get tested and learned on Thursday that she had the virus and would be required to quarantine for two weeks from when her symptoms started.
Curfman said she was most scared about how her positive test would affect her business. Curfman announced her positive test to customers through the restaurant's Facebook page on Aug. 27.
'I just took over Aug. 1 ... the biggest thing was worrying about the restaurant,” she said.
Her fears included whether people would feel comfortable coming in and dining at the establishment.
'I wonder if this will be my breaking point, being closed this long,” she said. 'We want to give people the reassurance that we're going to make sure everything is well cleaned, and we did take all the precautions necessary to make sure that everybody is safe. We want to keep everybody as safe as possible.”
Curfman, who ended her quarantine on Thursday, added her staff have also quarantined for 14 days and will be considered clear to return to work on Tuesday as well.
Despite her fears, the restaurant owner said feedback from the community has been positive.
'Everybody has praying for me and making sure I'm OK. Their support made me feel really OK, like we're going to make it through this OK,” she said.
