WAYLAND ? The Wayland City Council worked through its agenda in almost record time Wednesday night.
The main agenda items within the night?s light packet were setting the citywide garage sale and spring clean up dates as well as approving specifications for a new lawn mower.
The citywide garage sale will be Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7, while the annual spring clean up will be held the following Friday on May 13.
The council also approved the specifications for a new lawn mower and setting a public hearing date to open and award bids for the new equipment. The city is looking for a commercial zero-turn lawn mower with a minimum 28 horsepower gas or diesel engine. The mower must also have rollover protection, 60? cut and be 1100 pounds. Other specifications include having rear tires 24 by 12 inches and preferably four-wheel independent suspension.
?We wrote these specs specifically so we would only get bids for commercial mowers and not residential ones,? said Mayor Brad Roth.
Roth added the city has had its current mower for nearly five years and has put about 500 hours on the machine. ?It?s a good time to trade,? he added.
Bids for a commercial lawn mower must be received at City Hall by 4 p.m., on Wednesday, March 16. The council will open and award a bid during that night?s meeting.
To top off the night, the council approved donating $100 to the WACO after-prom and accepted the fiscal year 2015 annual examination report. The full report can be found on the Auditor of the State?s website at auditor.iowa.gov/reports/index.html.
The council also approved City Clerk Beverly Conrad to attend the Iowa Municipal Finance Officers Association Spring Clerk?s Meeting on April 20 ? 22, in Des Moines.
Lastly, the council approved a building permit for Beryl Rugg to re-roof the back porch on the house at 107 E. Highway 78.
The Wayland City Council will meet next on Wednesday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m., at City Hall.
