WINFIELD — With school out for the summer and warmer weather, many Wayland area parents are celebrating the splash pad opening at West Park.
“Great news! Wayland Splash Pad will open every day from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.,” Tamara Joan Zechin informed the members of Mom Café, a Henry County Mom’s group.
Due to a delivery delay, repairs to the splash pad fell behind schedule. Thankfully, without any other hiccups, the splash pad opened Thursday, May 30 and will remain open through the summer.
Those visiting the splash pad are encouraged to review the rules located near the “ON” button and remember, “if you’re in the park, you’re on camera.”
After renovations completed in 2020, West Park has become a great space for families and individuals alike to enjoy time outdoors, especially during the summer. Thanks to funding from various fundraisers, donations, the Enhance Henry County Foundation, the William M. & Donna J Houglin Foundation and city funds, West Park not only features a splash pad, but new play equipment, a walking trail, and handicap accessible restrooms.
As families venture out to enjoy the sunshine of summer, they can easily spend a whole afternoon at West Park. From running through spraying water and riding on spitting ducks to enjoying zip line swings, multiple play sets and a glider, West Park in Wayland will certainly be a hot spot this summer.
