MT. PLEASANT - The Mt. Pleasant branch of the Wayland State Bank rounded off its yearly donations with contributions to the Community Action of Southeast Iowa and the Fellowship Cup. Each organization received $2,500.
Keli Morgan, a family development specialist with the Tolson Center, said the donation would go to help local families in instances when other programs do not cover the need. Morgan added it may be for special, unexpected circumstances or those who need immediate help.
'With the pandemic, we're seeing more people who have never needed our services before,” she said.
Ken Brown, executive director of the Fellowship Cup, said the nonprofit would be using the donation to help restock its food pantry following the holiday season. With uncertainty on how long the pandemic will continue for, Brown said the nonprofit is unsure how many clients it may see in the new year.
'Numbers have really jumped back up ... this will help us reload and replenish,” Brown said.
