Mar. 1, 2022 8:32 am
Washington County Hospital and Clinics’ (WCHC) approach to offer more than you expect has earned them the elite position as one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation. The local health care system also received a Performance Leadership Award as a Top 20 critical access hospital in Patient Perspective.
“I am proud to be a part of the WCHC organization with a medical and clinical staff, support staff, and board of trustees that are committed to providing the very best of quality care and experience to every patient,” said Todd Patterson, CEO of WCHC. “Our results as a Top 100 hospital and Top 20 recognition in patient satisfaction emphasizes our commitment to provide more in quality, safety, compassion, and accountability to our patients.”
WCHC is one of approximately 1,350 critical access hospitals in the nation. Each of these hospitals was considered for these top performing designations. Critical access hospitals comprise about 25 percent of hospitals in the United States, are typically located in rural areas, and are limited to 25 acute care beds.
Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, this annual recognition program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX. The index assesses performance of hospitals across pillars of performance including quality care, market share, patient perspective, cost and charges.
Over the course of the last 12 years, the INDEX has established itself as the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Leveraging publicly available data, the INDEX is trusted by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations and state offices of rural health across the country to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance
