WASHINGTON — Washington County Hospital and Clinics is proud to announce its official recognition as one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States, as awarded by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) at their Critical Access Hospital Conference in Kansas City, Missouri.
The honor underscores WCHC's unwavering dedication to providing "More Than You Expect for Your Health Care," affirming its commitment to excellence in rural health care. The award highlights the hospital’s exceptional performance across critical health care metrics evaluated by the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™. These metrics include inpatient and outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and finance — key pillars of success for rural hospitals.
Out of approximately 1,366 critical access hospitals nationwide, with 80 located in Iowa, WCHC has distinguished itself as a leader in rural health care. This award reflects WCHC’s relentless focus on improving health care access and quality for its local community.
Todd Patterson, CEO of Washington County Hospital and Clinics, shared his pride in the recognition.
"Being named a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital is a tremendous honor and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team,“ he said. ”This achievement is reflective of our ongoing mission to provide the highest standard of care to the people of Washington County and beyond."
The award ceremony in Kansas City celebrated WCHC's continued success in rural health care, further solidifying its status as a health care leader.
