Phase 1B of COVID-19 vaccinations is underway in Washington County.
Public Health Director Danielle Pettit-Majewski told the Board of Supervisors Tuesday that the first mass vaccination clinic for people age 65 and over will be Thursday, and another clinic would be announced Friday.
'We will put out information on Friday for the next mass vaccination clinic,” Pettit-Majewski said.
She said that Washington County Hospital and Clinic has been a 'great partner” in helping administer vaccines to the elderly, educators and other people in Phase 1B.
WCHC Chief Executive Officer Todd Patterson said that they were able to administer 30 vaccines last week to area law enforcement officers.
WCHC Chief Operating Officer Bridget Hill said that they have reached out to firefighters and emergency medical service personnel to set up vaccination clinics for them.
'We have 100 more doses on the way,” Hill said.
To date, 2,248 vaccines had been administered in Washington County over Phases 1A and 1B, Pettit-Majewski reported.
Patterson said that WCHC will continue to work with Public Health to administer vaccines.
'We're geared up for mass vaccination clinics as soon as we get doses,” Patterson said.
Public Health received word last week that Washington County will be getting 300 vaccine doses per week throughout February.
Pettit-Majewski said that knowing how many doses they will receive and when allows Public Health to better schedule clinics and organize logistics for administering vaccines.
