WCHC seeing success with new programs
Jun. 28, 2019 1:00 am, Updated: Jun. 28, 2019 11:11 am
The team at Washington County Hospital and Clinics has seen success in their recently implemented programs.
At the board of trustees meeting on Thursday, June 27, Andrea Leyden, Chief Nursing Officer, reported the prenatal care program implemented in May has been averaging seven patients a week. Two Fridays a month, midwives from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics visit to offer the service. The program is going so well, WCHC is hoping to have the midwives available every Friday beginning in September.
The wound care clinic, staffed by Hospitalist Matthew Hines, ARNP, was announced in March. Since its implementation, Hines has been seeing an average of eight to 10 patients a week and the EEG (electroencephalography) service, also announced in March, has been serving an average of two patients per week.
The next meeting of the Washington County Hospital and Clinics will be Thursday, July 25.
