WCHC to hold virtual Kidz Fest next week
May. 14, 2020 1:00 am
WASHINGTON - Administration at Washington County Hospital and Clinics (WCHC) has decided to make their annual Kidz Fest a virtual experience this year.
The annual event is traditionally held in Central Park with more than 1,000 people in attendance, said Special Events Coordinator Greta Clemons. However, due to concerns about social distancing, staff made the decision about a month ago to turn the learning virtual.
'It is one of our biggest events so we wanted to be able to do something,” she said.
Beginning Monday, May 18, activities, videos and informational posts will appear on the hospital Facebook page. Activities will continue until May 24.
'Each day has its own theme,” she said.
From health, to safety to financial assistance, each day will feature content from local businesses who are looking to share their expertise with the community. Content will be posted once an hour daily for the entire week, she said.
The free event is mainly geared toward those ages 4-12, she said, but there is something for the whole family to enjoy. With each day focusing on a different theme, there is something for everyone to learn about.
'Kids have been stuck at home and doing things with mom and dad so this will give them a chance to get involved with the hospital and do different activities than they have been doing,” she said.
To access the virtual event, visit Washington County Hospital and Clinics on Facebook and click on events.
