Washington — As part of National Rural Health Day, Washington County Hospital and Clinics (WCHC) announced Nov. 16 it has been recognized with a 2023 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in Patient Perspective. Compiled by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards honor top quartile performance (i.e., 75th percentile or above) among rural hospitals in Quality, Outcomes and/or Patient Perspective.
“I am proud to be a part of the WCHC organization with a medical and clinical staff, support staff, and board of trustees that are committed to providing the very best of quality care and experience to every patient,” said Todd Patterson, CEO of WCHC.
WCHC is one of approximately 1,350 critical access hospitals in the nation. Each of these hospitals was considered for these top performing designations. Critical access hospitals comprise about 25% of hospitals in the United States, are typically located in rural areas, and are limited to 25 acute care beds.
The Performance Leadership Awards are based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. INDEX data is relied upon by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations and state offices of rural health around the country to measure and monitor performance across several areas impacting hospital operations and finance.
