WCRF, Mid-Prairie celebrate upgraded baseball field

WELLMAN — Members of the Washington County Riverboat Foundation attended a Mid-Prairie baseball game May 26, where they were recognized for contributions to the school’s recently completed “Field of Dreams” renovations to its ballpark.

The foundation granted $159,040 for the project in 2022, which built more seating behind home plate, a changing room for players, a dedicated press box and an elevated radio broadcast setup.

“The end result has created a beautiful facility for the Golden Hawks to call home,” the foundation said in a statement posted to its Facebook page. “Thanks for having us, and best of luck this season!”

WCRF Executive Director Patty Koller said the group was proud to support Mid-Prairie’s athletics.

“(The) Mid-Prairie Baseball Field is now one of the best high school baseball fields in the state of Iowa, and their team is up there too,” she said.
