RIVERSIDE — Those interested in serving on the Washington County Riverboat Foundation board have a few weeks left to do so, as the Riverside Casino-funded nonprofit seeks to fill three upcoming openings at the end of current members’ terms.
WCRF Executive Director Patty Koller said the openings offered a big opportunity to those who apply.
“Serving on the Washington County Riverboat Foundation board gives you an opportunity to decide where the grant funds go,” she said. “We can do so many good things in Washington County and beyond.”
Koller said the board suggested that applications be submitted by Sept. 19, although those running slightly behind will still be accepted, with candidate interviews not scheduled until October.
She added that residency in Wellman, Crawfordsville or Washington was a plus — as those are the hometowns of the three outgoing board members — but said the board would still accept entries from anyone who lives or works in Washington County.
“(We want to) get representation from each area,” she said. “People who live in those areas know more about their communities than somebody else who lives in a different part of the county.”
The new directors’ terms will begin January 2024 and expire in January 2027, according to a Facebook post from the group. The application is available online at washingtoncountyriverboatfoundation.org.
