Conversations are in the works to fill the role of executive director of the Washington Economic Development Group.
The role was previously held by David Collins, who died last month. Collins was remembered by colleagues for his strong work ethic and gentle demeanor. He assumed the position of executive director on Dec. 5, 2018.
According to Amanda Russell, president of the Washington Economic Development Group, there are conversations and logistics still being worked out to find the right person to fill the role. Russell could not give specifics at this time but said that plans to fill the position are currently undergoing discussion.
Currently, the Washington Economic Development Group has partnered with another group that specializes in economic development to help recruit the next executive director. Russell said the group hopes to not just fill the role but find the correct individual to do so.
'[The group] will help us find someone that can fill the big shoes that David had for us,” Russell said.
On Thursday, the group will meet to discuss further plans for advertising and posting the hire. The group hopes to fill the role in the coming months.
