Weekend snowstorms cause multiple accidents
Several vehicular accidents were reported over the weekend after the county was hit with a couple of inches of snow. A few vehicles were reported off the road near Riverside on Highway 218 Sunday at about 4 p.m. One was in the median and the other was in the west ditch. There were no injuries reported.

Several vehicular accidents were reported over the weekend after the county was hit with a couple of inches of snow. A few vehicles were reported off the road near Riverside on Highway 218 Sunday at about 4 p.m. One was in the median and the other was in the west ditch. There were no injuries reported.
Two vehicles were involved in a collision in the 1200 block of Highway 1 in Kalona at about 4:40 p.m. Sunday. More than $1,500 in damage was reported to both vehicles. The vehicles were moved off the roadway and later towed. There were no charges filed and no injuries reported.
A vehicle was reported in the west ditch in the 1500 block of Highway 1 near Kalona at 6:15 p.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported. According to the police log from the Washington County Communications Center, the vehicle was left at the site overnight and was to be picked up the next day when weather conditions were more favorable for towing.
An accident was reported in the 2100 block of Highway 1 near Washington Sunday at about 6:30 p.m. No injuries were reported and no damage was reported to the vehicle.
The 2400 block of Highway 22 near Kalona was the site of a car in the ditch Sunday at about 7:40 p.m. No injuries were reported and the vehicle occupants said they had someone coming to help them. The driver had a friend pull them out of the ditch.
A DOT truck reportedly saw a vehicle slide into the ditch as the vehicle was exiting 218 toward G36 at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The DOT driver requested a deputy to investigate. A deputy responded but found no vehicle in the area.
A vehicle was reported in the ditch east of the 2800 block of 220
th
street near Ainsworth at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle was in the north ditch with its flashers on. Officers arrived and advised the driver to have the vehicle towed tomorrow when the weather was nicer.
Another vehicle was reported in the east ditch in the 1300 block of Kalona Sunday at about 8:50 p.m. Officers found the vehicle and it was unoccupied.
