After buying a newer model, the Wellman Volunteer Fire Department is accepting closed bids for a 1985 M52A2 tanker, with a 3,200-gallon tank.
“We bought a used tanker and we don’t need an additional truck, so we’re selling one,” Fire Chief Jeremy Peck said. “We’re updating the fleet.”
With seven bids already submitted, Peck said the truck had plenty of potential uses.
“There’s other fire departments, there’s people that want to water ball fields, there’s people that water horse arenas, stuff like that, that would find it valuable,” he said.
Peck said the department would continue accepting bids for roughly another week. Those interested can mail their bids to the department (Wellman PO box 96,) or email them to WellmanFireTruckBids@gmail.com, according to a Facebook post from the department. The minimum bid is $5,000.
