Wellman library celebrates reopening

WELLMAN — Library staff, board members, city officials and representatives from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation met at a grand reopening party for the Wellman-Scofield Public Library on Saturday.

The building was under construction for months for renovations that roughly doubled its square footage, expanding into the neighboring former Goodwin Senior Dining center and alternative learning center.

“This expansion has been many years in the making, and it is wonderful to celebrate its completion," said library director Carrie Geno. ”The library board and staff are thankful for the support of the Washington County Riverboat Foundation and the city of Wellman throughout this project.“

The library received $632,860 to help pay for the project, over three quarters of its cost, from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation.
