Wellman votes on town T-shirt

Wellman residents voted for the town T-shirt last month, settling on a design by Taylor Sheets, a two-year resident of the town.

“I found the contest, and I was like ‘Well, I might as well try it out,’” Sheets said. “It just came to me. Wellman’s a small town … I just kind of threw it together.”

Wellman Chamber of Commerce President Heather Trimpe said the contest was close. After counting 146 votes, the Chamber declared Sheets’ design the winner by eight votes.

The Chamber has set up a web store for shirts and hats with the design. All proceeds from the sales will go to the town’s July 4 celebration in 2022, according to a note on the web store.

Residents have until July 18 to order a shirt or hat for themselves before the Chamber submits the bulk order to a supplier.
