Wesleyan women pick up win
Big second half caps off Tigers win over Culver-Stockton

MT. PLEASANT — The Iowa Wesleyan women’s basketball team picked up its seventh win of the season, with a 58-47 victory over Culver-Stockton.
The Tigers had a slow start to the contest, getting outscored by the Wildcats 13-8 in the first quarter.
Iowa Wesleyan turned things around in the second. At the half, the Tigers trailed by just three points, 27-24.
Most of the Tigers work was done in the third quarter. Iowa Wesleyan retook the lead with a 13-4 run.
By the end of the third, Iowa Wesleyan had a 45-40 lead.
Early in the fourth quarter, the Wildcats tied the game once again. The Tigers had an answer with back-to-back threes, the first from Brittany West and second from Brielle Baker.
After gaining back the lead, the Tigers pulled away to secure the victory.
Breanna Wendland led Iowa Wesleyan in scoring with 17 points. She also had 4 assists and 8 rebounds.
Kyla Moore scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Rounding out the Tigers scoring was West, who contributed 11 points and 7 rebounds.
The Tigers shot 31% from the field and 30% from three for the game.
The name of the game was second-chance points and points off turnovers.
Iowa Wesleyan created 15 second-chance points, to the Wildcats 5. The Tigers also scored 14 points off turnovers.
Next up for the Tigers will be a trip to Forest City, Iowa to take on Waldorf University on Wednesday Dec. 1. The game is set to begin at 6 p.m.
