Wesleyan women’s basketball bounces back
Tigers take care of the Trojans at home

MT. PLEASANT — Leading up to home matchup against Hannibal-Lagrange University, the Tigers wanted to bounce back after suffering their first lost of the season last week against William Woods University.
They did not disappoint.
The Tigers made quick work of the Trojans, ending the night with a 72-48 victory.
For the first couple of minutes of the game, the two teams fought back and fourth for the lead. Iowa Wesleyan eventually took control of the contest, finishing the first quarter with a 23-14 lead.
The second quarter was much like the first, with the Tigers outscoring the Trojan’s 24-14. Iowa Wesleyan went into the locker room with a 47-28 lead.
Both teams struggled in the third, combining for total of 16 points. Iowa Wesleyan had seven of the 16.
Despite the scarce scoring in the third quarter, the Tigers would turn it around in the fourth outscoring the Trojans 18 to 11, ensuring the victory.
The name of the game for the Iowa Wesleyan was points off turnovers. The Tigers scored 25 points off turnovers, while the Trojans had 2.
Junior Kyla Moore led the Tigers in scoring with 22 points, while also tallying 7 steals, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
Breanna Wendland recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Brittany West finished with 15 points, 4 rebounds and two assists.
Iowa Wesleyan, now 5-1 with take on Grinnell College on Wednesday Nov. 24 in Grinnell, Iowa. The game has a 6 p.m. tip off time.
