FAIRFIELD — West Grimes Avenue in Fairfield is closed between 28th and 32nd streets for emergency street repair, the city of Fairfield announced Thursday morning.
City crews discovered that morning that a portion of pavement had “blown up” owing to the combination of hot and wet weather the area has experienced in recent weeks. By late Thursday morning, a city crew had removed the damaged concrete and began replacing a section of the road with new concrete.
Fairfield City Engineer Melanie Carlson said the road will likely be closed for a week. Businesses on West Grimes are still accessible, though residents may need to take a more circuitous route than they are accustomed to depending on which business they need to visit.
