What it takes to put on Kiwanis Kids Day
To the editor:
What does it take for the Fairfield Kiwanis Club to provide our pancake breakfast, and provide a successful Kids Day event every year? 90 dozen eggs, 50 gallons of buttermilk, 250 pounds of flour, and 500 pounds of sausage. But those are only the obvious things, and certainly not the most important!

What does it take for the Fairfield Kiwanis Club to provide our pancake breakfast, and provide a successful Kids Day event every year? 90 dozen eggs, 50 gallons of buttermilk, 250 pounds of flour, and 500 pounds of sausage. But those are only the obvious things, and certainly not the most important!
The success of Kids Day is driven by the support of the entire community. So, whether you volunteered by helping in erecting the tent, setting up equipment, participated in the parade, or enjoyed the pancakes and sausage, we sincerely thank you.
The annual Kids Day is our ?signature? event of the year, and has been a key part of the fabric of our local club for nearly all of the fifty years since we formed in 1965. As we conclude the event every year, we reflect on what went well, and where we might be able to make improvements. But one thing always comes through ? despite the work involved, we have a lot of fun! And we hope that the community shares the same feelings.
Paraphrasing the motto of Kiwanis International, we are dedicated to ?improving the world, one child and one community at a time.? Community support allows us to advance this mission on a local, regional, and global scale.
We are grateful for all the support we receive, and look forward to all the Kids Days to come. We simply could not do it without you! Mark your calendars for the third Saturday in September 2016!
