BRIGHTON - The 110th anniversary of Whoopee Days still is happening with a theme celebrating Brighton's 150 anniversary.
One of the organizers, Judy Augustine, said the event will take place unless told otherwise by Gov. Kim Reynolds due to the coronuvirus pandemic.
The theme is 1870 to celebrate Brighton's sesquicentennial.
Augustine said there are a few events featured during the weekend that are angled toward the theme.
The parade will have a contest to see who has the best floats themed from that era; there will be kids' games from the era, such as sack races, and a few old time country band performances.
The events will take place Sept. 24 through 27, with Saturday being packed with events.
Augustine said because the event is still happening because it is tradition. Due to the outdoor nature of the event, people are able to participate safely and maintain social distance.
A few of the additional events include a vendor and flea market in the street, the Mud Run, a horseshoe tournament, a hypnotist and musical performances.
