WINFIELD ? During a special meeting on Monday night, the Winfield City Council approved the posting of the public works director position and adding two more employees to the city payroll.
The public works director position became vacant due to the death of the former director, Rick Rodgers. Council members also approved hiring a second assistant to the department, expanding the department from one director and an assistant to a director and two assistants. The city will be advertising the positions. No date was set for when the council would like to have the positions filled.
In addition, council members okayed the addition of utility/deputy clerk to the city office staff. As of now, only a city clerk staffs the city office.
The only other business item on the agenda saw the council approve a resolution to add a streetlight in the alley at the entrance of the parking lot adjacent to the high school baseball field.
Winfield City Council members will meet in regular session on Monday, Dec. 14, at 5 p.m. at City Hall.
